Running form and Gait Analysis – Video
I believe in the power of video for analyzing and improving running form. My lab contains HD cameras and monitors for both live and slow motion review of the runner’s form. My system possesses measuring capabilities of all key angles, lengths and position. Combined with video editing that allows me to produce high quality video reports of every runner.
Much can be learned about runner’s strengths and weaknesses just by watching. Slow motion video offers the ability to zero in on specific areas that may produce improvements in form and performance, as well as a reduction in injuries.
A power meter and foot pod adds a powerful tool, especially when combined with video to gather power, cadence, stride length and ground-contact time, among other metrics.
Running form and Gait Analysis – OPTOGAIT
My OptoGait system is a state of the art optical system that uses light curtains positioned on the sides of a treadmill or on the ground to perform a number of different test protocols.
During each test (in real time) or after the execution, two reports are immediately available:
- Run report: specific report for gait or running tests, with average values, standard deviation and variability coefficient of all typical parameters for the left and right leg. Furthermore, any possible asymmetries and imbalances between the legs can be spotted instantly. The same report type is available when selecting two tests, allowing for a quick comparison thanks to a graphically intuitive and clear interface.
- Extended Report: contains all numerical and graphical data, stored step by step during the test.
