Working with Alex has given me a new perspective on running. I had run a few races before but never truly enjoyed the experience. Training for a race seemed like a chore – chaotic and disorganized. Since working with Alex, I have found a love for running. Now I look forward to waking up and going for a run – no matter how I feel and what the weather is outside.
His patient and encouraging coaching style have been central to my growth as a runner. Using an analytical and heart rate data-based approach, Alex designed a program suited to my running style and personal goals. He has taught me techniques that genuinely make running long distances enjoyable. As a runner, for me, the most significant growth is now running long distances without stopping to walk. Additionally, he has taught me the discipline needed for endurance races. His mantra, “you need to slow down, to run fast,” is etched in my brain. His combination of track workouts, tempo runs, and long runs have helped me focus on time on my feet rather than just speed.
While running for me is mostly a solitary activity, working with Alex means I am not alone in my training. At the end of the day, I am a more mature runner and possibly even a slightly wiser individual because of Alex’s coaching.
